2211..where are you?
|
About a week ago I bought some fish at the LFS that they called "Blue eyed tetras".When I got home and had a chance to examine them closely I could see that they were not tetras.I tried to take photos but my camera wouldn't show them clearly.
(1)They do not have the adipose fin commonly seen in tetras. (2)Their dorsal fin is set back farther than the average fish, directly above the anal fin. (3)The caudal fin is rounded instead of forked. (4)They are about 1 inch long, slender for their size, even less robust than a neon tetra. (5)The body is a very light transparent green. (6)They resemble guppies. (7)The only thing remarkable about these fish is the neon blue area above their eyes, same as the blue seen on a neon tetra. These fish are the most active fish that I have ever owned, and spend most of their time within 4 inches of the surface. These must be very unusual fish,as I could find no reference to them on the web. Can anybody help? Thanks! |

yea i have a lfs that stocks them right now too. if you ask me they look like a mix between a guppy and a killi. they dotn' look like a tetra to me but rather a colorless killi. they're not so bad when they're happy though. the colors in the eyes really come out when they're happy but other then that it's a pretty boring looking fish.

The only reason that I bought them was because they were supposed to be tetras, and I thought that they would be a nice addition to my other tetras. Now that I have them I am not disappointed because they are an active fish, spend much of their time near the surface, and the blue eyes make a nice contrast to their otherwise drab bodies.
