46g pleco stocking question?

Hello everyone,
I have a question for you all. In my 46g I have 2 clown pleco's. I just picked up 2 albino bristle nose pleco's today. These ABN's have not yet been added to the tank.

My question is, can I have all 4 of these in my 46g. I do plan to feed various veggies and fruits. Also, there is still algae present in the tank.

Thanks,
Matt

Not sure what you're asking, but all of these stay small and are not aggressive. One might chase another off a piece of food, but that's about it. There shouldn't be a big difference in size, or the smallest may not get to eat enough. I put food at opposite ends of my tank to keep conflict down and everyone fed.

Clown plecos must have driftwood and the ABNs will appreciate it as well. Lots of hiding places in the form of driftwood, plants and rocks are a must, especially for the clowns who are quite shy normally. The ABNs in particular will eat lots of algae.

I was asking more if the tank was big enough to house these 4 pleco's. I didnt know if there is a recomendation of how many gallons per fish.

They should be fine. The Clowns grow to a max. 4 inches, and the ABN 6 inches.

It's pretty hard to say anything definitive about stocking levels without knowing what else is in the tank or what else you plan to put in the tank. But by themselves, that's not a very heavy bioload.

I've never kept the bristlenose, but the clown plecos are really fun to watch and quite "cute." If the bristlenose are good algae eaters, I might have to pick up a few.

I currently have,
1 angel fish
5 German Blue Rams
3 Various Tetra
5 Danios
4 Cory's
2 or 3 otto cat's

The tank is heavily planted, various rocks, couple pieces or driftwood

I have never housed more than one pleco in a tank, mainly because they are usually heavy waste producers. If territory issues are not a problem, then your only other issue is water quality. Probably a heavily planted tank the water quality will not be an issue.

ABN are great algae eaters...more so when they are young. Eating a lot=more waste.

I have 2, and they're great algae eaters. At the moment, one of them is carefully cleaning all my anubias. The sp.3 ancistrus is quite hardy and grows rather slowly.

mnellis3023, you need to watch the angelfish with the rams. Two types of cichlids in a tank is often not a really good idea.

pdc2104~
Thats what I thought too about the Angel and the Rams....But they havent bothered each other a single time that I have seen. Also, with all the plants in the tank, I dont see the rams that much. But the times they are out in the open, nobody picks on nobody else
