Best fish for Algae Control...Suggestions...

I just recently set-up a 55 gal planted tank and I am starting to see some algae forming on the glass. I had just a regular old pleco I put in there but he started devouring some of my plants so I had to take him out. With all of the experience of people in this forum, can you offer suggestions on what the best fish would be to control algae or do most people just clean the glass off which I am doing at the moment.

Some Plecos and Oto catfish can be helpful for algae on the glass, but the venerable scraper fish is definitely the hardiest. You only need one of those versus a veritable army of Otos.

I've never had to clean the glass since I got two Bristlenose plecos. The back wall of the tank was infested and difficult for me to clean.

They also clean my Anubias (which had algae problems) and java fern with no damage to the plants, although I've read on this forum they may harm sword plants.

Added bonus: They're cute!
