Betta and snails?

Ok so my sister has a betta in a glass bowl at my house (I'm at college now). now I've been thinking about it and seeing it like that is really driving me crazy so i figure I'll set up a small 10 gallon tank when i get home for it. but i'm sort of wondering if a betta would nip at spixi snail, i have some and think they would look nice in the tank i have planed. also would three otos or three cory cats be good in a 10 gallon.

they like to pick on big snails like apple snails but seem to leave smaller snails alone.. I think the tentacles look like worms or something.

I think it will depend on the demeanor of the betta. Some won't tolerate anything else living with them, even a large snail. Others, like mine, don't seem to bother much of anything, other than an occasional gentle teasing from time to time.

I had a betta who liked to flare at the shell of the yellow apple snail I kept with him. Must have thought it was the flared head of another male betta.

They're not that smart, really...

But that snail lived out it's whole year and a half of life without being killed by a betta, so I think it just depends on how hungry the betta is, or how determined.

I"m so glad you're giving the betta a great home! He's going to love it.

He might allow a snail or he might not. Just depends on his temperament.

I got some beautiful Nerite snails and tried to add one to my betta's tank.

Here was the result. I had to remove the snail.
