When are Archerfish usually available?

I've been looking for Archers since early November and havent seen anything available. I get wholesale lists from distributors and I check online and I cant find them anyware.

What time of year are they usually around? I am gonna guess Spring/Summer in the US but I dont even remember seeing them last year, although I wasnt particularly looking at the time.

They are still being imported, right? No new regulations came about in their country (countries) or origin?

We have them here at the LFS pretty much year round. Remember, they are brackish.

Aquarium adventure normally carries them. Are you close to one?

Yes, you have to remember they are brackish. They are usually available in the spring, depending on which sp. you are searching for. Ive had archers before, and they are a very interesting fish. They can also survive in a saltwater enviornment

Yeah, I am familiar with them. I know they are Brackish fish. I work in a store that deals with alot of african cichlids and other brackish fish but for some reason Archers havent been on any lists ive seen in the last few months. I'm not near an Aquarium Adventure unfortunatly.

I checked thatfishplace.com and fosters and smith, they are both out of stock as well. None on ebay or aquabid right now either.

Here's what I have in mind for them.

They have been on the list and in the store i work at for months now. Great fish too bad the average person that buys them from where i work cant seem to keep pet rocks alive.

Anyhow good luck finding them they are out there still.

thats what saddens me, I think more pet stores should ask the customer what size tank, water params, etc before they sell them the fish, like pacus, many people have no idea of their eventual size.

Thanks for the heads up. I will keep looking at the lists and hope I see some in the next few weeks.

Archers are found in Indonesia, Thailand and India as well. I would imagine they are farmed in at least one of those countries, as if they were only found in Australia they wouldnt be exported to any other country for the pet trade.

3 weeks ago I went to Captain Nemo in PA and they had a few in stock, you should give them a call to see if they have any left.

Most stores will stock them in Spring/Summer. When I worked at my last job we had ordered them in spring and summer.

They are a bit far for me to travel even if they do have them, unless they do shipping. I'll give a call to see. Thanks.
