help with diagnosis!!!

this week alone ive already lost two of my angels to disease which i cannot seem to treat and im starting to see symptoms in two of my other angels. i really want to nip this before it gets my adult marble and leopard angels!! symptoms include: darting suddenly, hanging around in the back corner of the tank with their face pointed up like their looking at the top of the tank, and then ill wake up the next morning to the fish laying on the bottom and floundering around like it has lost control of its body, floating upside down and sideways. ive already tried using erythromycin to no avail thinking this is a bacterial infection of the swim bladder. any help and insight is appreciated!!!!!

A little more history would help....

What type of equipment?

How long have you had the tank running?

How long have you had the fish?

Any recent changes?

Do you or anyone in the household spray to kill insects? The dead or dying insect can fall in the tank and the fish could eat it.

Any other info could help.

theyre in a 75 gallon tank with a rena filstar xp2, ph of 7.2, ammonia 0, frequent water changes once to twice a week, pressurized co2, and the tank has only been established for around 2 months. it is also moderately planted. the ones im having problems with now are fairly new... say 3 weeks ive had them. there were five i bought and three established. the five new are the ones showing signs of illness while the 3 sthablished have shown no signs of illness whatsoever. one i recently noticed looks like his skin is becoming cloudy near the top of his body.
stock list includes: 4 neon tetras, 6 angels, 3 balloon mollies.

right now im trying aquarium salt, 1 tablespoon for every 5 gallons. im about to try to nuke the tank with erythromycin along with the salt to kill whatever this is.

Post Um...

Um...I think you were right, Your fish may have Swim Bladder Trouble.
Do you have another tank? Because any fish with a disease should be isolated in another tank or bowl apart from the healthy ones. Try cleaning 25 % of your water in the tank. And did you treat the water before you put your fish in the tank? Does your fish go up to the surface for air or his gills move very fast? Anyway, I wish you the best of luck with your fish!

For medicine, I use Mela Fix. It's a treatment that you put in your water. It comes in a blue bottle and if you have a Wal-Mart, They sell it there.

My angel did something simlar to what your discribing and it had to do with the amount of CO2 going into the tank (i.e. WAY TO MUCH) once I cut back on the amount of CO2 and got a solinoid to turn it off at night the angel has been fine.

Swim bladder issues can come about with injury OR disease. This sounds bacterial and is usually (although not always) related to water quality. Try a gram negative or broad spectrum antibiotic such as Maracyn 2 or Maracyn Plus. First, d/c the erythromycin and run the carbon over night along with a water change, then begin treatment with the new meds.
