I love neon tetras. I used to have neon tetras in my ten-gallon tank before. It didn't survive long: there diet were just generic fish flake food.

After I upgraded my tank into 29 gallon tank, I bought 21 neon juvenile tetras, they were 3/$1.00: good price, eh? Right now I have 17 adult neon tetras, the four neon that died was my fault--I accidentally suck them during water change . Neon tetras grow well in cooler water temperature and clean water. So do water changes weekly, don't wait for the built up of waste from the fishes. I also feed my neon tetras with frozen food, like bloodworms, brine shrimp, etc and I also feed them spinach. The new diet really help my neon tetras reach its healthy adult stage. Currently they are constantly spawning, but I have no success with the eggs hatching--they are probably being eaten by other fishes.

Thanks Randall for the reply, I see just like any fish a good diet + clean water = success Ill have to make a decision later if Im going to keep neons or angels since the angels will eat the neons My other option is Angels + rainbows or neons + rainbows. Thanks again----

Relax. As long as you have normal water parameters (that is to say clean, well-filtered water, of pretty much any reasonable pH, reasonable water temps, etc.) they should do fine. They are highly domesticated, and will thrive in any normal tank. 10 gallons is too small for angels, BTW. Keep stocking levels low.

Not as good as mines, 20 for $5, AND I pick them myself, so I can accidentally add 1 or 2 more.

I've got 18 or 20 of them in my 55gal tank. Only lost a few of them that looked and acted sick right out of the bag. Can't win them all unfortunately. The one place I would rather buy them from, doesn't stock them. So I've bought some at PetSmart, and V.I. Pets. Currently praying A few that I got the other day look sickly already...

One way that I've found to get them to have vibrant colors is a good diet of flake food and frozen bloodworms.

Neons are no trouble as long as you keep them with like sizes and peaceful fishes. Neon schools, Glowlight schools, pair of corys/ kulhi, and a small sucker in you 10gal would be fine. Feed them with dried daphnia---blood worms---tubifex---tetrabits---shrimp powder--- lovely watching them come out in a swarm from the background plants. Normal clean tropical tank.
