Platy giving birth. Some fry may be stuck?

Hello!

I recently added 3 female platies to my 15g planted tank. I have read that platies will often be pregnant at the time of purchase, and I was not surprised when I saw a little fry swimming around the tank. However, there seem to be 2 fry stuck side-by-side in the female. 2 little tails are visible just forward of the female's anal fin. I noticed this last night, and when I checked again this morning there was little change. Will this resolve itself or will I need to intervene to prevent damage to the female?

I don't really have any desire to keep the fry, but I would like to prevent injury or illness to the female.

Gino

Sounds like she may be bound... if she does not get them out, she may die. You will probably need to intervene, however I do not know how you would go about it without injuring her. While you may not be interested in the fry, they may be the only thing that is salvagable from her. I wish you the best of luck and best wishes and hope you are able to figure out how to assist her in her time of need.

I may just net her and pluck them out with tweezers. Hopefully that will be sufficient.

Give her a squeeze and watch them shoot out!

On second thought, try the tweezers. Or, maybe some epsom salts? I know they loosen up other parts why not the baby maker too...
