Large Body Ulcer on Black Tetra, Help Plz.
So my brother calls me downstairs to look inside the tank and I found that one (I think it's only one, didn't see anything on the others) of them has some type of infection.
It basically looks like a cankesore (like you'd find in you're mouth after biting you're cheek) located in the middle of a heavily swollen bump covering the side of the fish. The actual ulcer area is pretty red w/ a little of blood and doesn't look like some of the white ulcer pictures i've seen. The fish isn't acting irregular other than rapid breathing. I was hoping someone could give me some advice or a good link I could read. In addition, I was thinking of isolating it but because I'd have to set up a new tank I thought it might stress it out more than anything. In terms of medicine, I was thinking of using some maracyn 2 or melafix but I'd appreciate any suggestions. |

O yea, I almost forgot. I clean my tank every week so I don't think the cause is related to the usual tank parameters. However, I've been dosing with PO4 and NO3 and was also wondering if I'm possible putting to much...unfortunately it's hard for me to tell because I'm using a low-end pH kit and it constantly reads 5ppm

Melafix
Sounds like somethinig my Silverdollars had after my bout with ICH that welcomed me back into the hobby. Melafix healed them up and now I cant even tell who Scar is anymore.
