Niger oto -Hisonotus leucofrenatus

Have you guys ever seen one of these otos?
I just got 2 from Justin over at Ocean Aquarium here in SF.

It's a strange one, but it sure loves that algae.... One of mine
is missing his right eye (found out when I got him home)

So his name is "lefty" or maybe "lefteye"

Here's their fact sheet.

He swims the direction of his eye.
Always to the left.

It's sort of funny,
but also a little sad.

I could have returned him when I got him home
and saw the missing eye,
but figured I could give him a good life,
and I have lots of other disabled critters, so
what's one more?

I have keep this fish for a few years and have had them breed for me. Great little fish that will stay small like an otto. Goodluck with them.

Cheers, Whitepine

I got three of these from Justin about a month or so ago. All lived and are doing well, despite going through a tank tear-down and new tank. Very active and smaller than regular otos. Justin called them Niger Otociniclus.
