Will apisto trifasciatas eat cherry red shrimp?

Mind you, in this case I want them to be able to eat them!

The scenario:
new 10 gallon setup

Looking for:
a pair of apistos (or other dwarf cichlid) that will be happy in the 10 gal

required:
must eat red cherry shrimp (among other things)

Anyone with experience, an opinion, advice, or just 2cents? All appreciated

When the Apistos are fully grown, and hungry, there is no doubt in my mind they will go after the Cherries. Feed 'em frozen bloodworms once in a while, they get the hint quickly.

They might leave fully grown female shrimps alone, but that will depend on the specific personalities of the Apistos.

Like with Bettas, where some of them prefer flakes, others like the little red wiggly things.

I had Rams with Cherries, and while they left the adults pretty much alive, not many youngsters survived.

YES. I have trifasciatas in my main tank - there *was* three Amanos in there and now there is just one that the male apisto occasionally tries to nip on. I think it only survives because it is a very old, big honkin' mama of an Amano shrimp. Cherries would be lunch.
