Hi everyone,

Ok here is my situation...my female Florida Flag Fish is nice and plump...my male on the other hand has a large head and a very very thin body...he was not like this 2 weeks ago. He is also listless and just hovers under the riccia mat at the top. He will not eat food it seems.

Vicki on another forum thinks this might be internal parasites?

What is everyone's thoughts here?

I have a Q-tank now 15 gallon planted with similar water parameters aside from a pH of 7.5 and big tank 6.9...

Should I treat with some sort of medicine you recommend? Recommendations? Available at petco or petsmart?

Should I treat in main tank...no other fish have seemed sick?
Should I treat in Q tank?

PLEASE HELP....these are two of my absolute favorite friends in the 100gallon tank....

Thanks sooooo much in advance!

Mike

PS...this will be posted on another board so that I can get information there too!

Vicki is a very smart fish keeper! If she has offered advice, do that!

I know anona she just said treat with what was posted in the sticky. Unfortunately no where around here carries those chemicals. I would also need to know what to do about moving the fish or keeping it in the main tank.

Mike,

Just called my wife, and mine showed up too.. I will keep you posted on there condition. Yes the ones with bulbs are brown, the other is a runner and is red... All of them should take off in you tank.... So they showed up fine? I was worried. How was my packing job

As for your fish. Sounds like an internal parasite/infection of sorts. I have heard some people using medicated food, but if he wont eat that will not help....

I lost one of my bloodfin tetras. It jumped out when I was doing the planting the beginning of the week. I found him this morning..... I just thought he was hiding in my jungle of plants....

Sorry to hear that Jason.

On another note....went to PETCO because they are close and got the jungle fizz tabs for the fish.

He is not looking good

He is resting amongst the rotalla indica on the bottom of my 15 gallon Q/Hosp tank. I hope I am not toooo late but I fear the worst.

Anyhow...take care everyone!

Cya

Ok he's been on the drugs for 24 hours now and today he was swimming a bit in the tank looking better...now though, he is on the bottom resting again...still no food intake. Still observing...can treat again tomorrow with water change...will try hand feeding him some frozen shrimp if that will work tomorrow.

Keeping fingers crossed....couldnt have happened at a worse time too...German rams are at it again...another clutch of eggs so I wont be moving them into this tank because of the drugs.

Regards!

Mike

Updated.

Unfortunately my Flag Fish did not make it through the night

I have learned however that I will ALWAYS use a dewormer med before introducing them to my main tank. It makes me sad.

Regards,

Mike

Thanks jason....

I am pretty sad. I love all my fish and get pretty attached to them. I also feel that I could have done something else or sooner. Well at least now I know and It wont happen again hopefully!

Oh btw...the brown lotus is sending a pad to the survace...it has grown about 6 inches since I got in a few days ago...ROCKET PLANT!
