I have tiger barbs. They are known for nipping fins so i would avaid them in with anything that has large fins (guppies would be bad).
Other than that tho they are fine as long as you have 8 or more (i have read 6 but have run into trouble with that few). I have molly's and cardinals with them and they just chase eachother around all day and dont bother the other fish. In my opinion cardinals and tigers are 2 of the nicest looking and colorful FW fish and it just turns out they are some of the cheapest. Perfect if you ask me ! James
