Kuhli vs. Zebra Loaches?
I'm planning what to add to my tank -- ultimate tank specs will be 29 gallon w/65 w compact flourescent lighting, lots of plants, and fish including danios, swordtails, otos, and some inverts (snails? shrimp?) My water is hard and has a high PH, though I plan to add a CO2 system which may bring the PH down a bit.
Just curious if anyone has a recommendation on whether zebra loaches or kuhli loaches would be the best choice for such a tank. What are the main differences between the two? Are either better or worse for a relative newbie? I love the look of the Kuhlis, but have heard great things about zebras, too. Thanks for any advice! |

I have never had zebra loaches, so I can't comment on those, but kuhli loaches are a bit shy, like hiding places as well as a sandy substrate to burrow in. I'm not certain if they like to be alone or in pairs, but they definately are neat little creatures.

Have six in my 125 gal..highly recommend them, but in groups of no less than 4 really..
and, if you do snails/shrimp with them.. consider them a tasty snack..and not permanent cohabitants of the tank Haven't had Kuhlis..so can't comment on them. |
