Breeding Tetra's

Im really up for trying to breed my black neon tetras.. so far the tank conditions are PH 7.0 gh 12 but they often perform and it looks like there up for the experiment also. ive been feeding them heavy with flake and frozen blood worm but am yet to cultivate something live which i will do soon to get them fully primed.

I was thinking of useing rubbermaid tubs to do the breeding, with marbles for the base to catch the eggs after spawning.
Ill start with the water from my tank, then with the selected pair in the tub start to lower the PH and GH with rainwater and distilled water (once i find some) till i get the desired value about PH 6.0 GH 0-4. Temp 23-27°c

My ideas for water changes depending on the container size about 50% every other day, i have a powerhead and could fit up a sponge to it for filtration, but would this be good enough? shall i aerate the water? or leave it still.

i would like to hear peoples opinions and info as im desperate to achive this and have some of the hatchlings in my tank.. as a sort of generation thing i guess.

please guys any help and info and experiences will be very much appriciated.
thanks
jay

I would ere on the side of not using DI water. It can be distilled in copper piping and that leaches into the water and can poison the fish. Also, why only one pair? It's my understanding that they spawn in schools.

great link thanks, im going to try and get hold of some rain water (i think my nan has some rain tanks ) its been a bit dry recently not much rain fall so its all on hold, i will proberly try to spawn a few pairs and did consider it, water sucks, i might have to go searching for some peat bogs and grab some water from there. im still to try peat filtration aswell.

thanks guys
