Where did all this color come from?
All of the sudden in the last two days my tank burst out in intense red coloration. I stopped dosing pretty much, a while back. All I do is pull thethread algae out when it's present, and skim the surface and replace the water. I change my diffuser weekly, and have been keeping the filter very clean.
So where did all this color come from?

Looks great! When you find out..let me know. I have been trying to get my reds to come out and can't. The only thing I can think of is that the nitrates have dropped and the phosphates have stayed the same from the food you give to your fish which would possible bring more red out. I had a thread recently asking how to get the red plants red and one idea was to lower nitrates and increase phosphates. Be careful though that you don't start seeing nitrate defiencies (spelling?)

Low nitrates.
The H. zosterfolia looks deficient. Mine really sucks in nitrates and iron, it yellows within a day or two when it is deficient. Great nutrient indicator plant. Lean ferts can be good, but no ferts is bad in a co2-injected tank, IMHO.

What kind of light do you have on that tank and what size tank is it. Have you tested nitrates?

Hmmm..judging from the amount of gsa I had to clean off the glass before this photo I wouldn't say the nitrates are too low. I will test tomorrow. I do dose here and there, just not on any schedule like every day. The tank is a 20 L, lighting is 2 X coralife T-5 30" fixtures. I believe the bulbs are 18 wts each..let me look lol. Don't get old... memory goes.
Yes,2 colormax and 2 10K 18 wt bulbs

I know I don't have stargrass, got rid of it a long time ago. Are you talking about the plant in the middle, the green one? I forget what you call it, I got it from Bigstick120..hmm..I know 'green' is part of the name. Anyway.. maybe I'll dose..tomorrow

What does GSA have to do with nitrates?
You sure that's R. green? R. green is like 1" width. What you have there looks quite big, like H. zosterfolia, 2-3". Anyways, R. green or H. zosterfolia, they both grow fast and show same symptoms.

My GSA is more effected by light levels and photoperiod length than nitrate levels myself.

I was going by this, this came from miss Drinda-Texgal
cure for thread algae 1. 50% water change. 2. Discontinue fertilizing altogether. 3. Every day for 1 week add 1 gram of Kno3 every 50 gallons until there begin to appear GSA. 4. CO2 increase the maximum allowable by the aquarium (at least 35 ppm). 5. Not diminish the lighting. 6. Do not modify other variables. 7. Manually remove the algae 8. When the issue is solved or after 7 days, 50% water change. 9. The amount of Kno3 you needed to achieve the GSA will be the amount you will use as fertilizing per week. 10. About the others fertilizers, use 30% of the dose you were using

One other thing changed, if it makes a difference. last time I cleaned the filter I took out the Purigen and did not replace it. I think the plants might be getting nutrients from the 1 million fish I have in this tank.
