I need help with doing a dry start with my hc. I am getting in a 90p that i would like to do an iwagumi but no one locally has HC submersed. I found someone that can supply me with HC emersed but i dont know the process on how to grow it emersed first then flood and grow it submersed. I read here that doing a dry start is the best way to grow HC but they didn't give any specifics like the fertz regimine or misting regimine.

Does anyone have any links to where i can find this info and hopefully a stratagey guide to help me along?

I already got a Tek t5 4 bulb lighting system and will be using ADA amazonia II for substrate and some zeebra rocks.

Please help as my tank is almost here and I would like to have everything in place when it does get here. Thanks in advance for your help

I've solved so many of my plant growth/algae problems in the past two months, but there are still a few issues. One of my tanks is a catastrophe. I'm hoping that I can get some help with this.

47 gallon 48x12x18
Lighting: 2x54 watts T5HO, 5" above water line
CO2: 2 one gallon bottles of DIY
Ferts: EI dosing
photoperiod: 6.5 hours

For the most part, plants are gorgeous and growing well. However, there are a few plants that have a black colored algae only in the very center of the tops of the plants. This is the ONLY place the algae has showed up, and I'm really upset about it. This problem started recently, but I haven't changed anything as far as maintenance, lighting, and ferts go.Of course, that's the part of the plant that grows, so the algae is stopping the growth on those plants. The blackish algae sort of 'blankets' the top of the plant (only the center though), and I noticed that if I try to pick it off, it comes off in one piece. Any idea what this is and how to fix it?

25 gallon 32x12x16
Lighting: 2x18 watt T5NO coralife fixture
CO2: one soda bottle DIY
Ferts: EI dosing
Photoperiod: 8 hours

Two issues here. Things were going really really well for awhile, but then everything went downhill after I rescaped. the bottom leaves of most of my stems melted away (L. arcuata, R. rotundifolia, Limno repens 'mini'). Sunset hygro seemed unaffected. I also have a cyanobacteria problem in this tank. This 25 gallon has been nothing but trouble!! I want to get things right but I don't know what the issue is. Do I not have enough light for the plants I've been trying to grow? They did really well before...

Can you help me?

This is a white jade eriocaulon that was flowering and at the time it started to grow roots and one leaf so far. A new plant is actually growing out from the end of the flower!

I know its hard to see in the pictures but you can just make it out. I guess from going high tech to low tech can trigger an eriocaulon flower to propagate into a micro fragment!

anyway, it wasn't in the best shape when i got it. it looks ok up until the tips of the leaves then they are brown and 'eaten away' looking. i was hoping it would do better in my tank but it's looking about the same. should i trim the tips of the leaves? the whole affected leaves? this is my first fern and im not sure how to go about trimming/restoring these leaves.
thanks everyone!

I'd like to restart by pruning everything to just above the ground, rather than try to prune out individual leaves. There's just too much to do otherwise. I figure it will grow back pretty fast, and look a lot nicer than it does now. Has anyone else done this.

I've read a few threads on how to weigh down or secure riccia to rocks or the substrate. The riccia I got is very short. Looks like it is just trimmings, and it is all just floating on the surface. Even a hair net will have trouble holding most of in in place. I was wondering if I should just let it grow on the top of the tank first until I get a bit more mass, and the leaves become bigger so they are easier to secure. Will I get much growth if I do this?
