Bag for Purigen?

What type of containers have you used for Purigen in your filters? I have media bags that I purchased a while back--they are made by Aquaclear---the Purigen seems to pass through the holes in the bag fairly easily. Any other suggestions? Panty hose around the media bag?

Thanks in advance.

I mean, potasium is good, and they are high in potasium, so just thought I'd check here for opinions, see if you guys are doing this?

Question is, I've recently read that they are taking away needed nutrients from my other plants that are of more importance to me - Swords, Anubias, Java Fern, Anacharis, Java Moss and am looking to add Hornworth. Should I let it be or or is it okay to deprive the male Endlers of it?

Thanks

Hey all, I've basically had my planted tank set up for 2 weeks now. Because I didn't have a timer (bought one today) and working longer hours lately; I've been having the lights on for an average of 12 hours a day. Now I have what I believe is an algae bloom (long green strands on leaves/green spots on the glass/etc. pretty much everywhere). I have no fish because I wanted to let the plants settle as well as in anticipation for going away for the Holidays. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to pick up some amanos or ottos to leave in the tank to help control the bacteria. Keep in mind that no one will be home to add attentional food/water changes for the week. My original plan was to deal with the algae when I get home.

A little info about the tank: My tank is set up with 65W over 20H tank with diy co2. I've been fertilizing with seachem fluorish/excel/nitrogen/phosphurous as per bottle directions. The tank heavily planted with baby tears, sunset hygro, water wisteria, dwarf hairgrass, anarchis, ludwigia repens, and some unknown plant.

This was in no way the fault of the person who shipped it, so I don't want it to sound like I'm saying that, but rather it is most likely due to the cooler temps. Anyway...It was hard for me to tell which way end was up and which end was down. :confused:Probably a noob problem..... Well I planted the stems and all are doing much better except for one of them. Yes, I planted it upside down:iamwithst. In my defense, the leaves are small and narrow and hard to distinguish top and bottom. And the stems I got had no tops or roots, they just looked like middle cuttings as if someone hacked off the stem I got and then hacked off the tops and they replanted them. Still this is too funny!!! Am I the only one who has done this?

When I had a 10G tank, water changes were so easy. Now that I have a 40G tank and a 60G tank, water changes are a pain. Taking old water is easy. I use a siphon w/ a long hose that goes into a bathtub. Putting new water is tough. I first put water in 3 buckets I have, put some water conditioner, carry the buckets and pump the water into the tanks. It takes about 10 buckets of water to do weekly water changes and it's physically challenging because I'm not getting younger!

I know some people connect a hose to a fauset to directly put tab water into a tank and then put water conditioner. But I don't like the idea of putting untreated tab water in the tank.

So, how do you change water?
