Is 2217+2236 for a 40G tank an overkill?

Would running a 2217 & a 2236 in a 40G tank with heavy bio load be an overkill?

I have an extra 2236 and I'm deciding whether to buy a 2217 or a 2215.

Thanks!

No way, i once had 12 geophagus species with a 6+" royal pleco in a 40b so i need the extra filtration. I already had a eheim 2217 and a AC70 so i added a AC110. My fish loved it

I was inclined toward a 2217 simply because I already have many 2217 pads (I'm running a 2217 in a 60G tank with light bio load). You confirmed my inclination.
