which canister for 40g?

What do you run on your 40 gallon? Or what would you recommend and why? I'm considering a 2217 or 2236, any reasons for/against either?

Jake,

I think you asked me this question in PM but I forgot about it... terribly sorry bro. Anyway here's my thoughts. The 2217 from my experience has very sufficient flow for this size tank. if you need more flow later on, you can always add a powerhead. Anything with higher flow would mean plants laying on their side against the substrate. I still have that problem with some weaker stems such as Rotala sp. 'butterfly' and 'macrandra'. But, that's also because I chose to run an added powerhead.

I'd jump for the 2217 if I were you. I've had mine since I started planted tanks and it's been running perfect.

No haven't joined yet. I'll be a member soon though. Just found a new 2217 for 130 shipped. Think I'll pull the trigger.
