Solenoid problems :(

Alright so my Parker Solenoid stopped working today, I woke up and saw the co2 wasn't on, so I unplugged the solenoid and it didn't click. I tried plugging it in elsewhere but it didn't click also.

Does anyone know what happened to it? do I have to get a new one or is there any way to fix it.

If it's the parker dude's selling on ebay my first one lasted less than a week. The second one has worked a week so far. I found no way to get to anything to service it either. I don't think it's really rated for continuous use.

Better contact dude ASAP if you want a replacement. He's a typical ebay seller and informed me that he hoped to reach the fine customer service standards set forth by Wal-Mart. If mine goes again I'll buy one from Clippard probably.

You may have something stuck in it. Did you use teflon tape to seal the connection between the tank and solenoid? Sometimes the tape can get inside the tank and mess it up.

so you suggest taking it apart and putting it back together and seeing if it will work?

yeah, couldn't hurt. See if anything is burnt inside. that's mostly likely what happened.

wow, wish i had seen this last week. I just ordered one of these off of ebay, based on another thread i saw where people were recommending them and saying that parker was a well known and respected company. Do you guys thing these valves arent meant for what we're using or that this guy is just selling junk?

I used a Burkert for well over two years with never an issue. They cost a bit more than a Clippard though.

I checked the solenoid but couldn't really tell if anything was wrong with it so I took a trip to Lowes today and get a coupling and just connected the 2 fittings together, so now my co2 will be on 24/7 for now

It's going about 1.5 bps right now, do you guys think I'll need an airstone at night? and does anyone know if i can attach a tee onto the co2 and run the airpump through the ceramic diffuser also? or can it not overcome the pressure

I didnt realize that the OP didnt even buy the solenoid from the ebay seller, or i woulodnt have even posted in this thread. But i wrote him thinking that people were getting all these crappy half broken valves from, and i dont think thats the case. I will send anybody who wants to see it a copy of his response. He seems to be a stand up guy, and personally im not worried about doing business with him anymore.

I ordered one of the Parker solenoids from the eBay guy. It arrived a bit worse for wear. After contacting the seller and explaining how important these parts are to our tanks, he graciously gave me a refund. He also told me he has sold over a thousand of these solenoids and has only had 2 previous complaints of faults. As someone who deals in electronics, that is an incredibly good track record.

Due to the hassle-free refund, i am considering purchasing more of these solenoids.
