Tom Mini Rapids Pro canister

I finally ordered my sample Tom Rapids Pro mini Canister filter to test out at the house. I put it together tonight and we shall see. It puts out about the same flow as the 501 that I have. I did take out the flow indicator as it might have prevented higher flow rates. People had been saying that these units dont seal well after you open them up and replace the media. In a week I am going to open it and put it back together.

On another note the VP of sales said that they sell alot of units per year and when I asked if it was over 10K he said yes. I know that people dont like the unit and had posted problems about them and all of those that posted I sent those complaints over to him.

I have also been trying to get them to produce a small under the tank canister like the old 2211 by Eheim. They did produce some canisters a few years back but they didnt do so well against all the units that are out there. I think that a small unit like the 2211 would be a good addition to the hobby. What do you think?

So I guess no one would like to see another filter like the 2211 made by another company? Not one person has replied to the thread. Give me your input you are the people that buy these types of things so why not tell the people that can make them.

I think a 2211-like filter would be nice, a lower price point than the Eheims, of course.

I am trying to get either the Tom company or the Danner company to do the filter. It might happen it might not but I think that if the hobbist want the product than they will build it.

I am sure that there are alot more other companies called Danner. I am talking about E.G. Danner Manufacturing. They make the Mag Drive water pumps.

Ya I guess that would be one but not alot of places carry them and you would have to purchase it on line. But I guess that those work. Do you want to be limited to one filter out there?

I don't know whey Eheim doesn't just sell the 2211. Be great for planted tanks 15 gallons and under. But yeah i think there would be a spot in the market especially with all the nano tanks people are keeping these days.

The compact size of the 2211 made that unit great. I am pushing for a small under the tank unit. Hopefully they will start to do one.

I got lucky and purchased a new in the box 2011 that came from an estate sale.

EheimAsiaPacific.com still carries the 2211: http://www.eheimasiapacific.com/prod...r_classic.html

So far the unit is working great. I have yet to open it up and clean it though. People have said that the seal fails after you open it up and clean it. Unit seems to be working great.
