DIY Tubing
[Dohh! Meant to post this to the DIY section... Sorry. Sort of relevant to this forum too I guess.]
I was given a 29gal tank from someone who no longer wanted the tank. I decided I would give a planed tank a try. So, I spent a day cleaning out all the algae and trying to salvage what I could of the stuff they gave me. It came with a Fluval 204 filter. I was going to (and I am sure will sometime soon) get an Eheim Professional II 2026, but wanted to mess around with this Fluval first. The hoses where rater nasty and hard to clean (ribbed, who’s idea was that?!) so I decided to make my own. I had some spare 3/4 (OD) 5/8 (ID) tubing leftover from my water cooling (computer) project and low and behold it fits perfect over the Fluval 204 filter barbs. So I went to Home Depot (ok, I had to make a few trips) and picked up some PVC pipe and silicon and went to work. Below are some links to pictures of my DIY Spray Bar, and Filter Intake. Does anyone have any comments or ideas? Any caveats in the design? I have never heard of a spray bar until a few days ago and I have never seen one (except in pictures). So I just sort of had to guess what they should look like Filter Filter Intake (Bottom) Filter Intake (Top) Spray Bar Spray Bar (Out of Tank) |

Looks great! I love the blue bucket, must be a Fluval-related accessory.
I did similar things when playing around with CO2 reactors, no reason why this shouldn't work. I like to place the spraybar just above the substrate, pointing upwards, or in a vertically in a corner, just to avoid looking at equipment in a nicely planted tank. Good job... |

Pretty sweet!
Other than the "standard " pvc white, it looks just like an XP3 spraybar thingamajig. I really wish I was as handy at DIY
