has anyone tried this before???? DIY Co2 No Yeast

I found this video and i was wondering if anyone has ever used something like that. If so how does it works and why is it better than yeast (that's what the dude who posted says) I would like to know how to set up one of those and try it. Maybe the yeast method can be avoided with this new one (at least for me).

At first I thought it was just a hunk of dry ice in a bottle, but I have no idea what he's talking about.

I wonder if maybe he's saying that aquarium water drips on the lemon acid, dissolves it, then that drips on calcium carbonate??? That would release CO2, but....????? His explanation really sucks.

What he has done is mixed citric acid and baking soda. These two compounds are used in bath bombs and are what gives it the fizz. Water drips slowly into the powder and causes it to react.

I suppose it will work, however when it fills up with water you are going to have a bunch of salt diffusing out and you will screw with the KH of the water. As well, it won't last very long (as he said, he needed to change it every day). Frankly, mixing the powders and setting up a drip system every day is a huge waste of time and has no advantages over yeast.

His criticism of yeast is that you have to refill it every three weeks. You are going to have to ask him how he thinks refilling every day is better!

His second system "Now I am using 5L balloon with liquid CO2 and camozzi magnetic flap " is likely referring to a 5LB tank of CO2 with solenoid. Storing liquid CO2 in a balloon is ridiculous at best.

I was wondering what the 5L balloon and camozzi flap was, a cylinder and solenoid makes a lot of sense.

I was thinking the same thing, how is changing it everyday more convenient than every 3 weeks?

I'd stick with yeast, I've been really happy with my set-up.

Yeah i think that for a DIY proyect the yeast method it's still the one to follow.

I don't think that method it's worth it either... he doesn't even explain it very well and the concept it's too complicated for daily basis.

Thanks anyways for the comments though.
