Default DIY reactor mod?

Could you use an external air pump instead of a submersible water pump for this CO2 reactor? If you used a check valve to prevent back flow, couldn't you just run an airline tube from an external air pump into the tube in the same place the submersible pump would attach? Just wondering if anyone has tried it...I've never made a reactor so I'm not 100% sure of what's required to work. Thanks

Laura

That would defeat the purpose of adding CO2. It would be off gassed into the atmosphere.

That sort of makes sense....but even if the whole tube is submerged so it's filled with water? I guess I'm envisioning sort of a backwards sponge filter....

Do you know of anywhere I can get a submersible pump for cheap?

Thanks
