I know you don't want to get a table saw, but I suggest you consider it. Around here, I can get a cheap table saw for 100 cdn dollars when on sale. A table saw that costs only 100 dollars isn't going to be great but it will work just fine and is much more convienent than clamping boards to use as a straight edge.

LOL. The area to work, I have. The tools I have not. Gathering info from great gurus like you. So as of now, I can see that 3 items that are necessary:

1) Quick Square - Should be fairly cheap.
2) Circular Saw - Have not scouted for the prices in Malaysian Ringgit just yet.
3) A simple jig for the circular saw made with planks and wood pieces.

And dude, my tank is an ADA 60-p (at least I think) 2'x1'x1' 1/2'.

Hey DiA, I lived in Thailand for years and saw some pretty makeshift rigs for a "tablesaw". For instance, a piece of plywood with a slot cut out for the blade and circular saw attached to the underside of the plywood(upside-down) with screws through the foot. Clamp or screw a straight piece of lumber parallel to the blade for a fence. This was the common set up seen when a crew was doing the finish work on a remodel. Whatever way you go please be careful!! Hey what kind of cool fish are available there? Where are you in Malaysia?? I've only been to Penang. Good luck and watch your fingers!!

Yeah, the table saw here in MY is just like the one you described above. Furniture shops do use those type of "table saw". But the problem would be the area. Those shops has huge "table saw" tables! I guess I will stick with the circular saw and the jigs for now. Up my skill a little bit and we shall see how my "tools" will progress. I love being a NEWBIE! for life!

I am in KL. Fishes? Loads of them here man. This LFS carries some weird ones too, you can check out www.slipperylittlesuckers.com.my for some of the fish list they have.
