Sounds to me like you're going to a lot of trouble to move a tank. I used to deliver allglass brand tanks and never had a problem moving them by myself, up to 75gal, or with one other person if bigger than that. The oceanic brand tanks have thicker glass and took two people to move around. I've never heard of a tank weighing 500 lbs that was that small either. Just my two cents.

Lol, I asked the manufacturer they haven't responded back so I conservatively estimate . The tank is going to be 3/4" glass. Based on crazy loach glass weight, my tank would weight 511 lbs (.0939 * 0.75 * 7260), so I figure the tank would weight no more than 550 lb. I asked the equibment rental guy and he said to rent a "material lifter" and it would cost $50/day, so I figure it's probaly worth the money.

I'd skip renting the lift and just rent some higher quality suction cups. I don't think I'd trust those cheap ones. Alot of glass places will rent high quality ones or you can try any of the tool rental places.

One thing to keep in mind though is the width of the tank. I know in my house a 30" wide tank won't fit through the doorways. If you going to have to tip the tank on its side anyways then the suction cups may not do you much good.

If you are going to get some, get the kind that pump up. That lever switch doesn't allow for a real good suction. They are generally intended for body work. I wouldn't put my trust in a few $5.00 suction cups....

Yeah I don't trust the $5 suction cups, probaly will rent a high quality one. Lucky for me, I have a double door, so no problem getting it into the house.
