Megaloc thread compound on slip fittings

Anyone try using a thread compound to seal slip fittings.

I've ordered this one:

I plan to use to seal the slip fittings between my pentair modules. Any advice?

I've tested a similar compound (ace hardware) and put them under household water pressure, so far no leak.

Ofcourse I'll use them for my threaded fittings also, look like it is much easier to use than teflon.

That stuff is only inteneded to be used on threaded fittings. It never actually hardens and thus I can't imagine it sealing a slip fitting. Might seem like it at first, but that joint would easily come loose if bumped or the filters are moved.

It does however work very well on threaded fittings. I prefer it to teflon tape as well.

Why not just use the PVC two part glue?

Well because I want to be able to reconfigure those pentair modules down the road, gluing would make them permanent.

I may have to comeup with a way to strap the modules end to end so they won't come loose, the compound then use only as a sealant.

Why don't you glue threaded adapters into the pentair modules? It would take more space that way, maybe an extra inch per fitting or whatever, but it would be infinitely reconfigurable.

You could glue a union on each side with a little stub of PVC pipe. You could also glue on a FPT adapter and then use MPT/MPT nipple thingies to connect the units.

I thought about gluing the union, but each union add at least 1" to each pentair module, I have like 6 of them, and that would take up too much space. Well it down to trial and error now
