Default DIY diffuser placement

I'm using 4, 2 litre running 2 bottles into one 20 oz bottle for bubble counter,Then one line out of each 20 oz to diffuser.
I have my diffusers about 4 inches off the bottom about 12 inches from the top, getting lots of bubbles!
My question is should I put the diffusers in my hob filters,I have 1 on each side of the tank.I use no carbon or anything I have a bag of fluval bio rings ant thats it.Should I put the diffuser In the bottom of the hob and let it bubble into the bio rings or would i get better absorbtion as is?
