Anyone ever strech a 5/8th hose on a 3/4 barb?

Well, it looks like I can't seem to find these anywhere. I've tried multiple HDs, and Lowes as well as various LHS, a couple plumping/heating supply store, and an irrigation supply store.
I've currently got 1/2" hose barb to 1/2" threaded on my CO2 reactor, but I feel like it's severly restricting the output from the filter.
I want to re-do this with the correct hardware, but since I can't find the 5/8" I was thinking of putting the tip of the hose in hot water ,and trying to streach it onto a 3/4 hose barb. However I'm a bit worried about the integrity of the hose after being streached so tight.
Has anyone ever done this successfully?

Yep.
On my Rex reactor.
It's been fine for a few months w/ no apparent problems.
You might be able to search for a thread where I asked about this, and folks said to go ahead.

I've done that on my 75g in a number of places, for the same reason as yourself. I did it with boiling water too, and found it worked best if both the hose, and the hose barb, were both heated up first - you can work the hose further up the barb before it cools off. But you might burn your hands a bit.

I did.

I've only had this set up for 6 months or so, but I've had zero problems. And from periodic checks, I can tell you it is still on real tight.

I have 5/8" barbs if you want them.

Get the barbs from Rex, Walter.

They will fit better and there will be no worries.

you can also buy a 3/4" to 5/8" adapter from home depot. just grab a snip of 3/4" tubing to connect the 2 together (hopefully HD would just give this for free).

Yup, both the heating method and the hose adapter will work. My plumbing was setup using both methods.

I would use hose clamps to make sure they are on snug. I did that a couple times and I had one constantly slip off when water was running through them.

I am going to go with the 5/8" barbs. And I do use hose clamps anyway (better safe etc...).
