Floor wax turns whitish when it gets wet. But it can be fixed up pretty easily and will still protect the floor.

As my family in New Orleans insists, though, wood is fine if it's been soaked as long as it isn't veneered. Yeah. Right.

Got it in one . That one section of floor tends to get buffed and waxed (as needed) on a weekly basis rather than the every six months or so the rest of the floor gets.

I haven't had any personal experience of this (thank goodness!) but I would suspect that wood that's been completely underwater and allowed to dry evenly may be okay as opposed to getting wet and drying only on one side. Seems like problems such as major warping and cupping set in mostly when one side is drier than the other.

I do. And boy do I hate it. Water and carpet dont mix. If you can remove the carpet do it. At the very least cover it somehow. You dont want rotten carpet and carpet pads... TRUST ME. **yucky**

Who would ahve thought that one little tube that poped out of an air pump could empty half a 55 gal in one 3 day weekend....

Default Thanks

Hey! Thanks for all the help. I will prolly end up putting down the plastic mats as suggested. I just really dont want to rip of the carpet. Its a completely finished basement, and I dont want to have to rip it apart for my fish. Plus the old lady will kill me. Hehehe i finally get my fishroom. Its going to consist of 150 gallon, 2 50 gallon, and 1 75 gallon planted. The rest are going to be apisto and pleco tanks. I get my 10-15 zebra plecos in next month Thanks again guys.
