can I use refrigerant tank for CO2 tank?

Found a couple of tanks (used for refrigerant refill)
It'd be nice if I can convert them to CO2 tank
Any idea?

Highly unlikely. Refrigerant is stored at way lower pressure than liquid CO2 so it's doubtful that they'd hold...assuming that you could talk a legitimate business into filling it CO2 to begin with.

You could. But it would involve breaking several laws and a lot of money. Not to mention placing your life in danger if they tried to fill the tanks. It would be possible to put a small amount of CO2 gas into the tanks but it would not be a lot and would soon run out.

Take a good look at the tanks in question. I'm betting they are simple welded tanks. Similar to a propane tank. Now examine a cylinder for compressed gas. Note that these tanks are NOT welded. They are one piece. The reason for that is when you are subjecting a compressed gas tank to pressures of 800 PSI or higher they need to stay in one piece. If they were welded they would crack the weld. I bet you did not know that they reason CO2 tanks need to be tested every few years is because every time they are filled they stretch a bit. The test is to make sure that the metal is not fatigued.

So to break it down. If staying out of jail means anything to you. If your life means anything to you. If NOT having the guys at the CO2 place think you are a total idiot means anything to you just get a CO2 cylinder.

LOL, Well put!

I do want to keep my freedom and value my life, so I'll just go get a CO2 tank.
