Hey Dogfish!

I had a couple of questions about setting up my 50 gallon tank. I posted them in a current thread, but as usual, I killed the thread.

Here goes!


Is the capping material berm necessary, or is it just so you don't see the dirt?

Two inches of dirt will do?

Can you do the new soil float it/skim it for floatables/wood bits in the new tank itself, or does it really need to be done in a bucket first? I'm trying to save an already injured back by not lifting buckets of wet soil.
