If you do collect this time of year be careful of hitchhikers on the plants. When something hatches in the house it tends to upset the wives... I have tried quite few plants that are native but success rate is low. Keep a good eye out for wood and stone as well if you decide to take a stroll, its not to late yet for aquatic plants, I have collected almost into december believe it or not. Back to the restaraunts... Ive heard a lot of good things about Go Fish but have never eaten there for some stupid reason... oh yeh, I have a wicked short memory and never think of going there. Sorry man, I never tried sushi , maybe when we go to the aquarium I will try some of theirs... LOL

Ok I spoke with the aquarium they do not have a room for us. I have a place for our meeting though. We can do that at the firehouse just down the street. Next thing is they do have a behind the scenes tour. Fifteen people can go on the tour at a time and the cost is $75. The admission rate for ten or more people is $13.50 for adults, children 3-17 is $9.50. So if we can fill the group it will be $18.50 adults and $14.50 children. Regular admission for adult is $17.50, children $12.50 so this is a good deal! If we have more than fifteen and need two groups for tour we will have to stagger them. Thats no problem since there is plenty to see while waiting. The girl I spoke with is going to see what else she can do for us if anything. Thats the rough of this so now I need numbers and time from all interested.

HEY!

Not to be an old grouch, but I think children should be omitted from this. I am sure everyone has lovely, well behaved kids, but if we were to ride up from NJ, we'd prefer to spend the afternoon with a group of our planted aquarium peers.
Please let me know. Mike |

How do people feel about spouses?
Specifically, my wife enjoys looking at the tank, but doesn't work on it. She wants to be a responsible pet owner, and wants to be educated about the plants and stuff. She'd enjoy a trip to mystic aquarium as we've been planning to go together since I moved here (I'm an animal freak, seriously, you guys might regret it if I come, I'll get way excited and dribble and stuff.). Anyway, are spouses included or not?

Same applies here IMO. It's about meeting with my planted tank peers. On the day that I finally get around to a bar-b-que for you guys, I'm all for spouses and kids then! ![]() But for a CT Planted Tank meeting, I believe the relevance of their attendance has a direct relationship with their participation in this forum.

I have no problem with spouses. It is nice for the gals/guys who are not interested in plants to have someone to chat with. I am sure not going to make that long a drive on my own. I'd have to bring my traveling companion! Mike |

I was planning on bringing my other half. If I was with any other woman I'd only have one tank, but she lets me keep 4 tanks.
She's my biggest supporter.Marcel

I think that's a reasonable judgment call Marcel!
She's "invested" in this process with you.In my case, I cannot say the same thing. My wife doesn't want to know anything about my tanks other than that they are not leaking, and that there are no dead fish on the floor. She would not be an appropriate spouse/partner. I'll save her for the bar-b-que. ![]()

My wife probably wouldnt go even if I asked... I know she would just say maybe I'll go next time, this time you go meet your fishgeek friends and have fun. As Kramer would say, Ooooh yeeeaaaahh...you all didnt know that part huh ? Thats what she calls me, a fishgeek... I hate it when she calls me that !
This should be fun and I can guarantee I'll be going solo. Not because Im crotchety like Mike , just because I know she will not go and tell me its "A Guys Night Out" kinda thing. As far as Im concerned however, you all can bring who you like, its all for fun and friendship. The more the merrier I say ! However... here is a rule - Anyone who does go MUST be able to name ONE plant or they owe me a dinner and I will test any wives , gf's or kids that go so you better be training them now... LMAO ! How about that one Mike ? ![]()
