it use to be a great store but latley a new guys has taken it over. He raises anglefish and thinks thats the only fish that should be available. Last tiem I was there they had close to 15 tanks with just anglefish babies in them. then there where probably 10 tanks with pairs in them that say NOT FOR SALE on them. It's really went downhill

I really don't know it's been about a month since I was there last. But from my last few times I was there I would say not really. I would bet the guy that answered the phone was the new guy running it. He's your typical store owner. Knows everything and his fish are the best.

Haha... yea. Fish store owners can be a little lacking on the "hi!" skills. That's why I frequent Premier -- they're friendly.
So I went down to Sherman last night. It kind of reminded me of South Broadway...desperately needing to be cleaned and maybe have a floor put in (haha). But you're right, they did have oodles of angels, so he definitely has that down to a science. I saw a brown ghost knife that I considered picking up, but I couldn't get anyone to come over and feed him for me, so I walked away. They did have a nice tank full of young congo tetras, and some nicely sized threadfin rainbows that were unfortunately dealing with ich. Lots of gold tetras which seem to be wild caught. LOTS of cardinals which need some time to fatten up before taking that risk. Seems like this is this guy's home fish room he could never have with all his angel pairs, dempsey pairs, snook pair, etc. But I guess he never has to buy angels to stock! All in all, on a scale of 1-10, I'm hanging out at a 6 until I can go there more often to see any improvement. |

I'm not sure if he sold it, He might have just given this guy free rain of running it. I forgot about all the other "not for sale" fish he had. It's really dissapointing to see that store now, knowing what it used to be

Yeah well with the fire at one store and the lawsuit causing the loss of another... Mark hit some pretty hard times. As far as I know he still owns the store, but he has not spoken to anyone I have talked to in CAS for quite some time. Hope all is well with him.

Do they still have a ad in the classifieds (Rocky Mountain News) on the weekends?
I know the website has been down for about a year. I just realized that it has been 20 years since I have been there. When you could get nickel size angelfish for $.25. |

Mmmm... fish!!

EWWWW! The last (and ONLY) time we were there the employees were yelling and cussing at the customers (grant the customers were rude, but the store folks are SUPPOSED to be professional. Then there was a poor fish whose entire eye socket was completely covered up with a nasty fungus and the employee who showed it to us was completely unconcerned, AND it was still in a tankfull of other fish. On a scale of 1-10 one being lowest, they get a MINUS 6! There are lots of good fish stores in Denver, but that's one that needs to really clean up it's act - the tanks, the fish, and mostly the staff! But then that's just our opinion...
