First I would like to say what a difference between this forum and a reef forum I patronize. While members of the reef forum are ready to pounce on you for the slightest transgression, it appears the members on this forum are patient and really want to help.

I purchased a Fluval Edge. I know not the smartest purchase for a planted aquarium but it's what I bought. In due time, I will absorb enough knowledge to venture out and upgrade to a more appropriate tank.

Now for my question. I want to aquascape my aquarium exactly like the photograph on the Fluval Edge Manual. Unfortunately if you don't have the manual you don't know what I'm refering to and I don't have a scanner. If you do have access to the manual, perhaps you would identify the plantings for me. The look is very basic and minimalist. It appears to have sparse plantings of short turf grass in the front and taller (not broad) leaf grass in the back. Then there are a few rocks and a couple of pieces of driftwood in the tank.

I realize the lighting in my tank probably won't sustain the plantings but I would still like to replicate it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I agree this is a nice forum. I also think you can make a nice planted tank with what you have. They had a nice one set up at my local store.

Welcome! Pouncing on other members will get you pounced right off these boards. I can assure you of that. No need for that here.

Any tank can be scaped and enjoyed. Just becomes and issue of whats practical for you really.

First thing I would work on is the hardscape. Collect some rocks and hunt for driftwood either at local fish stores or online. The plants are easy to come by here in our swap and shop.

I was into reef tanks for about 10 years. I lol'ed when I read this. Reefnuts can be harsh. This forum is great though. I just discovered it a couple of months ago and I think you'll like it.

I'm kind of a newbie but I would think this tank should be fine for a nano planted tank. I read the pdf and it says (2) 10 watt bulbs. Are they NO flourescent?

Stasiu- Thanks for the reply. Not the same plants but you helped me realize that I can go to "Plant Profiles" and search for the plants.

JennaH- I have the 6 gallon and the lights are halogen.

gmccreedy- You hit it right on the button. If you open the Fluval forum link you provided the tank is the third tank pictured. I would like to duplicate that planting. I didn't know Fluval had a forum. Another Favorite to add to my growing list of Favorites. Thanks
