Algae Growth

I noticed this brownish-green algae about 4 days ago in my 3 week old planted tank. I did a 40% water changed and vaccummed all the algae I could out. Two days later, the algae is back as thick as before. I have a 10 gallon planted tank with CO2 injection. No liquid fertilizers. 40 watts of light for 7 hours a day. Ecco complete substrate. Here is a picture of the algae. So far it is only growing on my micro sword.

From the look of that pic, you could use more plants. Also, with that much light and CO2 injection you should dose macros (N,P,K). High light with CO2 make those plants REAL hungry, & without nutrients they won't flourish; high light and plants not growing healthily will result in algae, probably in many forms. Good luck!!

can't tell cause the pic is blurry, but looks like rhizoclonium to me (i've had my nightmares with it!). it was almost impossible to get rid of, but it seems that I finally have. Now i've got problems with hair algae. I need an SAE and some amanos...

Would it help if I would add some of my liquid fertilizers? I have Flourish, Excel and Iron.

Here are two clearer pictures of the tank:

The algae almsot doubled in one day.

Pretty sure that is Rhizo, which is what I have
In my case I think it is caused by DIY CO2 issues..
In your case it is probably caused by no macros, which w/CO2 and high-light, you pretty much have to have. flourish/iron etc. aren't going to help, you need NPK.
Excel can help get rid of it, but you really need to address the cause and get some dry ferts, or it will just keep coming back
Good luck!
