Jeffrey Senske

There is an article in the September and October 2011 TFH Magazine. I am trying to find out what size tank and filtration he is using.

120-H ADA Cube Garden and for filter it's an eheim 2217 I believe. He plans on upgrading it to the Super Jet ES 1200.

The one that Jeff used is somewhat out of my pricerange. Which other ones would be good as a discus tank. I am thinking 5 to 6 discus.

They like nice and solid anyway. Eheims just feel so plasticy sometimes. And those doubletaps...dear god, don't get me started...

The Super Jet is definitely the best filter on the market, not just for aesthetics. Best for the price point? Well that's something that is up to the individual. It does include filter media, lily pipes and clear hose, which helps make it more cost effective (so a $550 Super Jet, is actually about $280 for the filter itself).

Standard protocol for filtration gph/lph calculation is the filter empty and running, so flow is usually cut in half just by adding media.

However, the Super Jet retains about 90% of it's flow even with media in it and after running for months. Mostly because it is powered by an Iwaki external pump as opposed to an internal pump made out of plastic that gets clogged easier.

What size super jet would you recommend for a 120P tank?
