Default Brown Algae on Hairgrass

I recently completely tore down my 5.5 gallon tank to change it up. New substrate, new plants, new brown algae phase. It wasn't unexpected, but now most of the blades of dwarf hairgrass are nearly covered with it. I just wondered if this affected too much the grass. Can it still get light through that crud? Anything I can do? I don't want it to die off. Thanks.
