I decided to try this new system on our desktop, we (me and my girlfriend) are now poorer by over $200 (we bought full retail version of windows 7 home premium). the thing's expensive, but it's worth it IMO.

The installation took not more than 45 minutes of my life (I've chosen 64 bit version, but full version comes with two disks, 32 bit and 64bit) with just 2 interruptions and no errors of any kind.. I wanted to keep my data from old desktop in xp I had before and even that I needed to format system partition, windows 7 copied all the important files from old windows! Big plus for that.
Second thing that made me liking the new system is that after installation, windows automatically found and installed all the drivers with no problem! Printer, tablet pen, camera, external disk, usb wi-fi antenna, router, sound card, all worked right from the beginning. That;s a second big plus for microsoft.
The new UI is similar to what you've seen in vista, except the new aero function and new taskbar, which is truly great. You can "pin" any application to it and that saves a lot of space on the desktop.
It was impossible for me to pair vista system with my xbox 360, but now, when I turned on my xbox, windows 7 found it immediately, installed all necessary drivers and now I can watch movies, music and pictures on my tv thanks to windows media center.
Home network finally got fixed and it's so easy to transfer files and share media with my laptop now. Of course, stupid Vista on the laptop won't let windows 7 share it's files thru home network, so I have no problem accessing files from my desktop's disks on the laptop, while I can't see any files from the laptop on my desktop. Vista truly sucks and I am thinking of upgrading to w7 on the laptop in the nearest future.
Overall, the new windows 7 is worth the upgrade IMO. It's fast, it isn't annoying like vista (forget stupid warnings popping every time you try to install, copy or change something, now it's all hidden in he right corner of your desktop) and user-friendly, just like xp used to be.
I hope that review will help those of you considering switch to new windows. What I don't like about new windows is pricing, especially the upgrade version. If I'd like to switch from crappy windows vista on my laptop to new windows 7 home, I have to pay $119 + tax. I think upgrades should be cheaper, like $69 or something like that.
