For anyone that is using the JBJ bubble counter, do you notice that if you use pipe dope (pipe compound) between the 1/8" connection of the needle valve and the bubble counter, that there is a leak? I am noticing that there is a very slight (but noticeable with soapy water) leak at this connection. I am wondering if it has something to do with the pipe compound vs. the teflon tape (I am using pipe compound right now)
I have already tightened this down as far as I can with a relatively long wrench, so...
Let me know your thoughts.
Edit: Here is a (blurry) picture showing you where the leak is occurring (Q-Tip is pointing to the joint that is leaking; image is clickable to enlarge).
I had the JBJ bubble counter leak from that same connection as well. What I found that fixed it is if you take the bubble counter off, there is a small lip inside the bottom of the bubble counter. I fitted a small rubber o-ring there and had no more problems with leaks. You might want to try that if you can't get it to seal any other way.
When I purchased my JBJ counter from the seller on eBay and opened it from the plastic packaging, the O-ring was at the top, and not that the bottom, hence I just left it there, assuming it was in the right spot
Edit: So there should be no O-ring between the brass cap and the airline tubing?
hey i had the same same problem today from jbj bubble counter from ebay, i also assumed that the o ring goes on top. BUT its not just leaking air...its also leaking water! i wonder if its because i filled the counter up full? though i dont think filling it full is even relevant no?
