I am setting up a 70g 36" tank. I thought to use the spray bar. I had a bubble wall and it drove me crazy with the hiss sound, without it my tank is silent. Does the spray bar make hissing sounds? How long should the spray bar be.
I thought to use my Eheim 2126. The heater is burnt out so I want to put media in the bottom area where there is a space around the heater. I have two nano power heads I will use to move the water more. We like when the plants sway slightly. I think this should be enough flow for the newer tank what do you think?
A 2126 is almost too small a filter for a 70g tank....almost.
If you plan on the tank being heavily planted, that filter will mostly likely be sufficient. As far a spray bar, they are completely silent as long as they are below the water level.
I've never heard a sound from mine. The only way I could see a spray bar making a sound is if you have it above the water line or have it pointing towards the surface. Even if you did that it would be a splashing sound and not a hiss.
I use the Eheim Spray Bar assembly you can buy on one tank, and on my other tank I have a ghetto rigged up old Rena spray bar duck taped to the output from my other Eheim 2128.
Inside my mag 350 I only use the micron sleeve. I have two sleeves...before I had a UV filter I had to swap them out weekly, but at that time I also had too long of a photoperiod With reduced photoperiod and UV filter, the micron sleeve runs for about 3-4 weeks without clogging.
