I've taken a 10 year hiatus from the hobby, and I know this sort of setup is commonplace now, but I'd appreciate your input . . .
Here's the latest idea I have for my next setup:
-Heavily planted tank with a healthy school of tetras;
-acrylic aquarium (25-30 gallon, tall);
-all filtration plumbing inside the tank via PVC pipe (no external overflow, etc.), concealed with bark/wood;
-sealed filtration system via cannister (Rena Filstar or Eheim);
-here's a rough sketch of what I'm getting at:
-Who makes an overflow ("downspout?") that is quiet (i.e., no sucking noises)? Anyone fabricate their own? Parts at Home Depot or more specialized?
-Anyone drill their acrylic aquariums? Any reason not to do so?
-Any glaring deficiencies in this idea?
