co2 and sponge filters

hey i was just wondering if its a good idea to run co2 when you also have a sponge filter running in the tank. right now i have the sponge filter so that it only bubbles at the surface of the water. should i still run my co2? im debating if i should refil my paintball co2 or not because im worried the starogyne is not gonna do well without the c02

If you have a sponge filter, then the surface of the water is most likely being agitated quite a bit. This means that diffusion of CO2 out of your water column will be increased.

While injecting CO2 would be a good idea for plants, you will find that you may end up refilling your tanks more often than necessary.
