110g for $500

Is a 110g tank with a stand and lights worth $500? I belive it is, but it was a lobster tank I dont know if they are modded in anyway. It appears to have a black bar in the picture on the right side. Can this be removed? Also I think the red stuff is algae and dont know if cleaning that will be a problem or not. If everything is good I will snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Any opinions on this matter would be greatly valued.

Thank you,
Patriot

no stand, but they're easy enough to make for cheap.

$500 for a used 110g that needs some serious cleaning sounds high to me. But, I do like the shape of that tank.

125G Aqueons can be had for $250~ over here new.

I'm not sure what those dimensions are but they don't look like they 6' long.

I wouldn't think they are that much different price.

If that was acrylic I woudl think about, does it come with a chiller or anything. For a coldwater lobster tank that red stuff is weird, did they use it for a reef?

Anyway, if you're not too particular a cinder block and wood stand is what my friend has holding his 125G and just framed the outside with some painted plywood.

110g for $500

That's too high. I would bargain for $200 to $250.

I grabbed up my 125 Gallon on craigslist for $175, came with stand, tank and canopy. After super storm sandy guy lost his reef tank, so he upgraded to bigger tank. Took me an hour to clean the tank and looked brand new.

Re: 110g for $500

I agree that the price seems to high. What type of lighting comes with it? On a used tank I would look at paying about $1 a gallon. A little more possibly on a unusual sized tank. If it comes with a good stand, furniture quality I would expect a bit more added to the price.

Way overpriced. For a used tank in great (almost new) condition, I would not pay more than $1/gal. In nasty condition like this one seems to be, $0.50 max. If it is scratched up, only take it if offered for free.

Stand and equipment would add something to the price, but this only applies if the tank is really nice.

Ok thanks guys. I think I found a 125 for $250 on CL but the poster hasn't responded. I hope they didn't sell it already. I'm also trying to get pictures of this tank.

$250 for just the tank or for stand also? That still sounds high to me. Around here I can pick up a new 125 for $2-300.

Well it's not like I can just order one offline and expect it to be cheaper. I'm in a city that doesn't have any great aquarium stores to buy from. If I lived in Seattle then that would be a different story. They have so many tanks that they are cheap.

it's $250 for tank and stand.

Oh ok... $250 seems like a good deal if it's a decent stand and the tank doesn't need much work. Hopefully it isn't sold yet
