Which Eheim canister for 20L and 29g?

Trying to decide which canister model would be ideal. Looking only at the Ehiem canister classic series.

20L acrylic rimless
heavily planted - breeding shrimp only

Eheim classic __________?

29g tank
semi planted - musk turtle tank
Tank is filled to aproximately 25g full.

Eheim classic __________?

2213, 2215, or the 2217 would work fine on either tank.

i had a 2213 on my 29 gallon and didnt think there was enough flow, so i had to use a koralia. decided just to go out and buy a 2217 for it and now i like it, but i have had to dial back the flow quite a bit so my sand doesnt move around.

so with that, i would think a 2215 would be a good fit.
but i went with the 2217 since its not that much more expensive, can be used on a larger tank down the road, and i can just dial back the flow with the quick disconnects

Interesting the 2213 is rated for 66 gallons more then double the tank size and its not enough? 2215 is rate at 90ish... I am very surprised this is not overkill.

I dont want crazy flow...

Which Eheim canister for 20L and 29g?

2217 and turn down volume

2215 did not do it for my 29 gal...with the 2217 the tank is clean with good flow.

If you got the $$ buy the biggest ones you can afford.
You can always reduce. But you can't increase flow.

The flow rate are probably measured with the canister filter being empty (no media).

I have a 2217 in my 29. No complaints. I got it on a sale from bigals for $119, so it was an easy decision

the smallest Ecco would work. They are relatively inexpensive also

with having my 2213 running along the backwall or the side of my 29 gallon, there were plenty of dead spots all over towards the bottom of my tank.
with the 2217, i had to turn down the flow a little bit, because some of the sand at the bottom of the tank was blowing around with the output wide open.

I have the smallest Ecco 2232 in my 29G and I don't feel it is enough with 8 Pristellia Tetra and 8 White Cloud. I will be at the least adding a turtle 501 to it. Looking now for another filter for setting up a 20G
