How the clean old equip?

I got a used 55g tank and equipment yesterday.

What's the best way to clean it? It's bad!

Just water and elbow grease? Or is there something I could use?

How the clean old equip?

White vinegar works really well, especially for salt buildup and hard water stains.

There are products to clean aquariums but I have never tried them. I agree that vinegar is the way to go as far as a cleaning solution. Avoid the green 3M type scrubbers or others abrasives. There's little value to a clean surface if it's scratched. Vinegar, mild detergent, copious water and patience is the way to go. Don't expect to knock years of hard water buildup and “funk” in 15 minutes! For severe problems a NEW razor blade can remove a lot. However, if there are any imperfections in the blade or used improperly (not keeping it flat, pressing to hard on the corners) it can scratch the glass as well.
