Powerheads

Looking at add some more flow into my 75G planted tank. (....well soon to be planted with water, currently in dry-start-method mode).

Has anyone had experience using powerheads in their planted tanks? I'm deciding between the Koralina 550GPH and 750GPH. Don't want my tank to explode with flow, but understand the importance of having movement.

Koralias create a lot of flow... when in doubt, go a number (or two) smaller. Also consider your future fish, some love flow, others not so much.

My hope is to hide them a little bit, adding two makes that feel a little harder to do.

I see so many planted tanks without poweheads, so even if I got a smaller one I'd be in an advantage for flow?

The 750 had too much flow for my 40B but not by much. Might be ok for a 4' tank. The koralias flow is not so concentrated as others I've had. Makes for a gentler current

Sorry, I did not mean two powerheads - was referring to going two numbers smaller. So for example if you are considering the 750, go down to the 550 or even 450 instead.

And yes, they are great for increasing flow, which is very beneficial for our plants. Some fish love it, others don't. All in good measure.

I eneded up buying a 550 =) Will let you know how it turns out. 4' is quite a bit of flow to push - looking forward to seeing it work. Now just need to get water in the tank! 3 more weeks to go!!
