Dual sponge filters and tank size

How many gallons are one of those cheap dual sponge filters capable of maintaining? Is one good enough for a 5,10,15,20g?

It depends on the stocking level more than the number of gallons in the tank. It might work fine on a lightly stocked 20 and might be terrible on an over stocked 10.
I'm running one of them on a 20L that's full of plants and cherry shrimp with no problem.

I put them in 3 diff 10g shrimp tanks. They are all decently planted. And may double as fry tanks soon

I also have a 17gal bucket I was thinking of using as a planted mini fry pond. So I guess it wouldn't Hurt to ad a second as the residences increase
