Fluval 306 with Glass Pipes

Looking around I found a post that indicated that 3/4 od x 5/8 I. hose could be used to replace the black ribbed tubing used for the Fluval 306. Would 13mm or 17 mm glass tubes fit in this or would a different hose connector size be needed?

16 or 17mm should fit, though you may need to heat up the tubing to soften it enough to get on. Don't try to pull it off once it's on.. you'll have to slice it off or risking breaking your pipes.

I don't remember the exact size of tubing I used to replace the ribbed stuff on my 306, but I do remember it was a tight fit with the fluval fittings as well as my inline heater.. and I opted for the clear tubing simply to make adding things inline easier. I am not running lily pipes on that tank.
